now with our thermostats installed we
0:03
can see what our temperature is getting
0:04
down to and during the day it's not
0:06
looking good we're still freezing but
0:09
not quite cold enough so we're I was
0:11
doing some research and the thermostat
0:13
pulled out and the the control board
0:15
there they have a uh resistors in there
0:18
so this is a variable speed compressor
0:21
we have the the
0:23
bd50f uh compressor this also works for
0:27
the BDF 35 the BDF uh I think it's
0:31
800 I I'll leave go check our blog or
0:35
here's a screenshot of all the stuff so
0:38
pause it here and it also tells you the
0:42
resistance you need to get your
0:44
compressor speed right now on ours I've
0:48
already put cuz it was our freezer was
0:52
not down to 7° it was down to uh 19 so
0:57
I've got a 4 Ohm resistor and with my
1:02
wire and everything I'm about 470 ohm so
1:05
uh that's a good place to be but I want
1:08
to regulate I want to go
1:10
from no cool or just standard to super
1:17
cool but uh this all cost power
1:21
so with that you know you want to be
1:24
able to turn it down if you're running a
1:26
little low on energy out there on the
1:27
boat ORV I made up a little contraption
1:30
right here and uh what I've got is I've
1:33
got basically this resistor kit comes
1:36
with a whole bunch of resistors I'll
1:37
leave links down below to for all this
1:40
but uh for the
1:42
resistors I'm using the
1:46
uh
1:48
220 that's uh coming in from my
1:52
electronic thermostat which I also leave
1:54
down below these are pretty cheap so
1:57
yeah I've got some spares on board I'm
1:58
going to cool some other things on this
2:00
boat along with the AC from last week
2:03
that we fixed to still running so I'm
2:05
cool right now cool running on this boat
2:08
but
2:10
uh got that and now I plugged it into
2:13
these uh these little switches right
2:14
here this is a 3-way switch so Center is
2:18
off and then I'm going to have turbo and
2:21
normal normal will be a a little colder
2:25
than the uh Factor revs cuz that's going
2:28
to pull me up past 600 OHS at turbo
2:32
we're going to be running 1200 OHS let
2:34
me uh pull this up on the multimeter and
2:37
show you
2:38
here so hopefully you can see this
2:41
pretty good multimeter also comes with a
2:44
uh thermometer sensor so I think that's
2:47
yeah that's the thermometer so I can see
2:50
what my fridge is doing if I don't trust
2:51
my
2:52
gauges but uh so I'm going to turn this
2:56
in the off position right
2:58
now put uh one lead in here let me turn
3:02
this around so you can see it there you
3:05
go there goes the AC we're coming back
3:08
on getting cool again go check out that
3:10
last video see how we fixed that so this
3:14
is standard
3:17
run and you'll see our ohms are coming
3:21
in at
3:24
687 which on our chart right here 6
3:28
and 92 is uh medium cool on this
3:34
thing and now we hit turbo mode I may
3:38
have to expand this if I I I want to cut
3:42
it
3:43
down so
3:46
1,213 the max we can go is
3:50
1523 that' be 3500 so we're going from
3:54
about 3,000 to 3500 so we're back here
3:57
in the kitchen ready to get this
3:58
installed right now I've got 470 Ohms on
4:02
there or 460 something and uh we're
4:05
hitting about 6° and well it's kind of
4:09
cool in the house cuz I have the AC on
4:11
but this morning what I got up is
4:13
5° now yesterday it would only get down
4:16
to about
4:17
9° and uh I don't know if that's as safe
4:21
as I want for food but let me go and
4:23
plug this in okay hopefully you can see
4:26
down here I'm going to pull this
4:28
out and and uh I've got tape around this
4:31
cuz it's not complete
4:33
yet I've got to build in I've got to
4:35
frame this
4:37
in but uh here's our freezer control
4:40
thermostat so you see right here I have
4:42
the resistor plugged in and I'm going to
4:45
go ahead and unplug that these just go
4:47
down to our uh our control board on our
4:54
compressor okay so that's
4:57
loose and all the stuff I'm using I also
5:01
use a heat gun to shrink up these
5:04
connectors but uh I'll leave that down
5:08
below and uh yeah it's great to have
5:11
tools
5:12
that
5:15
useful okay strip this
5:19
off now this wire is not causing me
5:23
hardly any resistance I may be getting a
5:26
ohm of resistance out of this wire so
5:29
this is not an
5:35
issue put that in
5:44
there so positive negative and then this
5:48
is your uh u relay for your temperature
5:52
relay so this Powers your thermostat and
5:56
these just go off and on when it reaches
5:58
a certain temperature
6:00
pretty easy it doesn't matter which way
6:01
you plug in man but uh got that
6:06
off let me see if
6:09
I my tape
6:11
back don't don't prosecute me for my
6:15
tape I know what to get up but I'm going
6:18
to build a basically this is where my
6:21
propane tank was and I'm going to
6:23
build a little
6:25
uh wall PL in
6:28
here get that uh going right so and
6:32
there is our control switch I'll leave
6:35
it right there for now and I'll turn
6:38
this on okay so it's on this is off so
6:44
basically our fridge compressor is not
6:47
running but uh I'll turn this to normal
6:53
mode so right now I'm going to just
6:55
should be running this on uh normal mode
6:58
I want to see how cool it gets on that
7:00
mode this is going to take me a little
7:01
bit to get numbers but I'm going to
7:03
update you on the uh Power draw of both
7:06
of these things so you'll stay in this
7:07
video cuz that's coming but uh we're
7:09
going to do the normal mode and I will
7:12
leave the ohms and then we'll do turbo
7:15
mode and the ohms and we'll see what the
7:17
temperature difference is and another
7:19
thing that is good for wow I Got Dirt
7:21
all over my face optimizing your fridge
7:25
is make sure it's closing so I've got a
7:27
bunch of these clamps that broke one
7:30
exploded and just came all over the
7:31
floor so yeah I'm gonna get that fixed
7:34
and also clean my face so if you see
7:37
here I don't know if you can see that
7:39
but the whole guts blew out of this one
7:42
this is what they're supposed to look
7:44
like right there I show one the light
7:47
let's see if I can get light there so
7:50
the whole guts blew out of that
7:52
one so on the top here it looks like
7:54
we're purely relying on gravity to get
7:58
it down so I'm like fix both of these
8:01
and hopefully it tightens up the top
8:03
here okay now that I have all my hinges
8:05
done are my locks for my freezer and
8:09
fridge I'm going to put this my
8:12
hydraulic back in and what I've done is
8:14
I've attached a little fan that I'm
8:16
going to run in the freezer to help
8:18
defrost so and uh since it's damp in
8:22
there I got Beetle tape instead of uh uh
8:26
just uh silicone because um yeah the
8:30
Wall's already rotten I'm going have to
8:32
replace it but this will allow my wife
8:35
to be able to lift the door in the inum
8:37
and hopefully defrost the fridge keep it
8:39
cooler in there keep that cold air
8:41
circulating and uh all that good stuff
8:44
so I have that installed this is
8:46
temporary
8:47
but vetle tape should keep out any
8:50
moisture around them
8:52
screws and I see it's got a little space
8:55
behind there and I know you're going to
8:56
say water gets back there it's going to
8:58
push that thing off the wall so just
9:01
don't let water get back there but also
9:03
when it comes up now it comes all the
9:06
way to the top so it's a lot easier to
9:12
get more things in there see look at
9:14
that so that's that's some good stuff
9:17
right there now that I got my hydraulic
9:19
installed I pulled some new wires to run
9:22
to the fan I've got bolted to the back
9:25
of the hydraulic Mount to help circulate
9:27
air through here to hopefully get the
9:30
fridge temperature down and also uh get
9:34
some air circulating in this freezer to
9:36
help
9:37
cool okay so I got the fan installed
9:40
excuse the wiring mess this is a version
9:43
1.0 on all this cuz I'm just working it
9:47
out and close and hold the thermostat
9:51
back there but yeah it's a work in
9:55
progress
9:57
and the temperature right now now is
10:00
almost 40° in the
10:02
freezer 50° in the fridge that should
10:07
drop
10:08
down so right now it's on turbo mode and
10:13
the app difference wasn't that much
10:16
between that and the normal
10:20
mode and the temperature difference was
10:23
it was hard to tell so I'm going to
10:25
change the U resistors for normal mode
10:28
now probably up the resistor for turbo
10:31
mode but uh might make normal mode more
10:35
closer to the lower compressor speed and
10:39
here are the numbers we got very little
10:42
amp draw between very little difference
10:45
in after between the two and our
10:48
temperatures were very I I there were
10:53
between the uhu
10:56
a I couldn't really tell a difference I
10:59
have a lot of work to do on this and uh
11:03
hopefully uh this was helpful for you in
11:06
version one 1.0
