Black Beans and Rice are one of those Comfort Easy Meals! We like to season our Black Beans and Brown Rice with Taco Seasonings in the Slow Cooker!
Slow Cooker Black Beans and Rice is a Delicious and Easy Meal that can be served in many different ways! Our version of Black beans and Rice has loads of Spices and Tex Mex Seasonings and has been a Family Favorite for over 5 years! We started experimenting with Ingredients and different ways of Cooking this when we lived in Texas and this is our Favorite way! We like to eat this in a Bowl, Stuffed in Flour Tortillas, as a Dip with Chips, for Breakfast with Scrambled Eggs and even as Lettuce Wraps!

Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Slow Cooker Temperature: High
Slow Cooker Cooking Time: 3 Hours (This is for Dry Black Beans Only)
Slow Cooker Cooking Time: 2.5 Hours (This is for All Ingredients with Cooked Black Beans)
Serves 6 – 8
Slow Cooker Black Beans and Rice Ingredients:
1 Pound Dry Black Beans (or 4/ 15 Ounce Canned Black Beans, Drained)
6 Cups Water (reduce water to 4 Cups if you are using canned Black Beans)
2 Cups Brown Rice
4 Tablespoons Better Than Bullion Chicken Bullion
4 Tablespoons Fresh Minced Garlic (about 4 Cloves)
4 Teaspoons Ground Cumin
2 Teaspoons Chili Powder
1 Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon Salt
TIP: If you are using Chicken Broth, Replace all the Water with the Chicken Broth and Don’t add Chicken Bullion!
Slow Cooker Black Beans and Rice Instructions:
1. First thing to do, You will need to soak your Dry Black Beans for at least 6 Hours or Overnight. Then drain and rinse the beans.
Next in your Slow Cooker or Crock Pot, add all the Soaked dry Black Beans and 6 Cups of Water, Turn the Temperature to High and Cook for 3 Hours! The Black Beans should still be a little firm because they will be cooking again!
TIP: If you are using Canned Black Beans, Skip to Instructions #2!
2. Now that the Black Beans are Ready, add Brown Rice, Chicken Bullion, Fresh Minced Garlic, Ground Cumin, Chili Powder, Ground Black Pepper and Salt.
TIP: If you are using Canned Black Beans, First Drain them then add to the Slow Cooker with Ingredients and 4 Cups of Water or Chicken Broth!
3. Next Stir all the Ingredients together and then turn your Slow Cooker on High, Slow Cook for 2 1/2 Hours. Don’t Stir during Cooking.
When the Black Beans are done, the Beans and rice will be soft! This is what it should look like after cooking, all the water should be gone.
