Slow Cooker Cooking Time: 6 – 7 Hours
Slow Cooker Cabbage Lentils Ingredients:
16 Ounces Dried Lentils or 4 – 15 Ounce Canned Lentils
4 Cups Water
28 Ounce Canned Crushed or Diced Tomatoes
4 Teaspoons Chicken Bouillon (we use Better Than Bouillon)
4 Tablespoons Fresh Minced Garlic (about 4 Cloves)
3 Teaspoons Ground Cumin
2 Teaspoons Chili Powder
1 – 2 Teaspoons Ground Black Pepper
1/2 Head Cabbage Chopped
Slow Cooker Cabbage Lentils Instructions:
1. First, Soak the Dried Lentils in Water for about an Hour. Drain the Lentils and put them in the Slow Cooker with 4 Cups of Water. Slow Cook on High for 2 Hours, Do not put in Ingredients yet. After 2 Hours, the Lentils will have absorbed a lot of the Water and the Lentils will be a little Soft.
TIP: If you are using Canned Lentils, Skip to Instruction # 2. You will need 4 – 15 Ounce cans of Lentils drained.
2. Next, Add Canned Tomatoes, Chicken Bouillon, Fresh Minced Garlic, Ground Cumin, Chili Powder, Ground Black Pepper and Chopped Cabbage in to the Slow Cooker. Mix up all the Ingredients, The Lentils will look a Little Dry, Don’t worry, the Cabbage gives a lot of Water during Final Cooking.
3. Now, Put the Lid on the Slow Cooker and Cook on High for 4 – 5 Hours. These Lentils will be a Chili Consistency.
