On the hard, do wish this on anyone! Hauling the boat out has been coming, not much bottom paint left. Me, underestimating the amount of work, jump right in thinking I could get this done in a couple weeks. Wrong, and this is going to take be a couple videos to get this projects done. Please follow along and laugh at my pain.

  1. Bravo on all your work!
You sure were lucky to find a boat yard that allows you to liveaboard! Are you still using your shower(s) and sink(s)? I assume you have a holding tanks for the toilet(s)?
FYI: you didn’t actually have to grind all the way back to the gelcoat. I’d just sand the anti-fouling paint down to a reasonably smooth and solid surface, not all the way down to the gelcoat, and put on a few more coats of anti-fouling paint.
    Congratulations on accomplishing so much!

    1. Thank you Doug.
We still could use our sinks, but didn’t allow food particles to go down them. The marina had showers and bathrooms, also per the EPA they can’t pump out blackwater tanks on the hard. Make that make sense.

We took it down to the gelcoat because the paint was a mess. We had only owned the boat for months and the paint was flaking off. They had barrier paint over ablative paint, a real mess. Next time we plan to only likely sand and paint.
Hope y’all are doing well in the Mediterranean!
