Cabbage Roll Burritos filled with Ground Turkey and Taco flavors, Simple and Delicious Casserole!

Our Stuffed Cabbage Rolls are a healthier version of our Saucy Burritos! They are Saucy and Full of Flavors married into the Meat! We wanted these with No Cheese (you can put cheese on these but we like the freshness and spiciness of the meat to be the flavor).  Than we smother them with our Simple Enchilada Sauce and our Delicious Sour Cream Garlic Sauce, you don’t even miss the Cheese!

Prep Time: 1 Hour
Bake Time: 1-1 1/2 Hours
Baking Temperature: 350 Degrees Fahrenheit
Serves: 4 (we double our recipe for our family) Cabbage Roll

Cabbage Roll Burritos:

1 Pound Ground Beef, Chicken, Turkey (we usually use ground turkey)
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil (if you use Chicken or Turkey, Oil is needed to add some fat)
2 Tablespoons Fresh Garlic
1 – 2 Tablespoons Ground Cumin
1/2 Teaspoon Chili Powder
1/8 Teaspoon Cayenne Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
1 Cup Chicken Bullion
1/8 Cup Fresh Cilantro
1 Cup Cooked Brown Rice
1 Head of Cabbage

2 Cups Enchilada Sauce
Our Delicious Sour Cream Garlic Sauce to top this off
SALT to taste (we don’t think these need any)
Cheese if desired

Cabbage Roll Instructions:

1. First thing to do is to cook the Brown Rice according to the package (this will take about 45 minutes, add extra water if rice is still crunchy).

2. While the rice is cooking, this is a great time to saute the Ground Turkey until it is thoroughly cooked and the meat is getting brown with some Olive Oil. Then add Garlic, Ground Cumin, Chili Powder, Cayenne and Black Pepper. Make sure all meat is well coated with seasonings and simmer for 5 minutes!

3. Now add 1 Cup of Chicken Bullion to the meat with cilantro, Let Simmer for 20 Minutes!

4. While the rice and Meat are finishing up, you will need to boil a pot of water for the cabbage! Before boiling the head of cabbage, cut the core out of the middle! When water is boiling, drop the head of cabbage in the pot of water and boil for about 3-7 Minutes (how big the head of cabbage is depends on boil time). When Cabbage is done, drain the water and set aside to cool a bit!

Tip:
Cabbage needs to me soft enough to fold into burritos but NOT MUSHY, use a fork to stab the cabbage when you think it is done, fork should pierce easily!

5. At this point, everything should be ready to start putting these delicious Cabbage Rolls together! Add the cooked Brown Rice to the simmered Ground Turkey Filling and mix thoroughly.

6. You will need a pan or casserole dish, add about a cup of Simple Enchilada Sauce to the bottom of pan. (Here is how I set up to make this process go faster and easier!)

7. This next part is just like wrapping a Burrito! Take a Whole Cabbage Leaf, fill it with Ground Turkey and Rice filling (about 2-3 spoonfuls), than fold over top, than sides and roll up like this!

8. Finish up the rest of the ingredients to fill up the pan. Spread another cup of Enchilada Sauce on top, covering all the rolls.
(If you desire CHEESE, than sprinkle it on the last 20 minutes of cooking, we think they are delicious topped off with our Sour Cream Garlic Sauce!)
PreHeat oven to 350 Degrees F and Bake for 1 Hour (the cabbage will cook more during this time and the flavors will start marrying together!) Check with a fork after an hour, the cabbage rolls should be very soft, if they are not, than cook additional time!
Let cool a little and dig in!
